Making the Dress
Firstly I cut the material into a simple shift dress pattern ( with a slightly flared skirt) the blue material on top is the pattern I followed. The material must then be ironed and the edges ironed over by just under a cm to create neat seams
Then, the dress sides were basted(pinned) and sewn as shown:
The Crown and Belt
For the belt I used golden curtain cord plaited with white curtain cord , this retained the dress's white innocence but added a regality as befitted Ophelias status as a noble woman.
The Crown was the hardest part of the outfit,I bought white and purple flowers at a market to decorate the crown, but then had to weave the willow rods used to form the base of the crown together ( something I have only done once before) this worked very well.
Thbe flowers were then added to the crown by twistingthem within the weave of the willow rods.
As seen above, before the shoot i added the left over flowers to the belt , this gave the model a very naturalistic Pre-Raphealite look.I added a train to the crown of silver gauze.
